Description
Mostly Celtic music with fiddle, hammered dulcimer, guitar, and mandolin
The Hanshaw Trio is a collection of mostly Celtic music with fiddle, hammered dulcimer, and guitar. These are some of the reels, jigs, waltzes, and other tunes we most enjoy playing together. Most are traditional, but there are also some originals and a contemporary piece, too.
This CD is quite different from my two solo projects:
- First of all, except for the replication (thanks, NTDC), we did this whole project ourselves. We recorded in Craig's basement (a.k.a. Pine Box Studio) using Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks Pro. I got to play mixing engineer and graphic designer, and Jerry was our photographer.
- We recorded as an ensemble instead of laying down tracks individually. On three pieces we also overdubbed -- extra dulcimer, extra fiddle, and on the final piece, some mandolin and recorder.
- This CD is very much like our live performance: The hammered dulcimer is just one of three voices; most of the time the fiddle leads. Dulcimer and guitar also lead at times, and sometimes the fiddle plays harmony.
