Besides replacing the old recordings pages with new ones, I’ve adjusted all the new pages to work better in older versions of Netscape. Folks were complaining to me that the text was hard to read over the border image on the left. Since my CSS margins obviously were not working for these folks, I’ve rewritten the body tag to use a background image without that border. Browsers that support CSS will use the style tag instead, which specifies the background image with the border.
The new pages have been launched! As I finish new pages, I will replace old ones, but since there’s a lot of work left to do (and since I’ve started a new CD project), expect the site to be a bit of a hodge-podge for a while. (By the way, I’ve changed my mind about having external links open in a new window… seems most people don’t want that.)
In this revision, I’m trying to eliminate font size declarations and most layout tables, I’m making the Credits page (when finished) and external links (except on the Links page) open in new windows, I’ve made a paragraph class with wider margins to replace <BLOCKQUOTE> tags, and, finally, I’m making navigation links in two rows, one for other pages, and one for sections of the current page.
Let me know if you have any problems with any of these pages — include your browser name and version number. By the way, any links will take you to current pages, not the equivalent test pages. Use your browser’s back button to return to this list of test links. Meanwhile, of course, the current versions of these pages are still working. Start here.
My latest revision is to use <DIV> blocks for a header, footer, and main section, each with a left margin to clear the background image border. I’d tried using nested <DIV> blocks for additional layout within these sections, but varying support for float makes this problematic.
